We have arrived to Greenville Mississippi through our longest day of paddling, 70 miles. Thank you Peter Nimrod & your family for letting us stay at your place. Also thank you Andy Nimrod for setting this all up. We greatly appreciate it!
Out running storms are never fun in a canoe but at least we didn't get rained on.
We made it to Helena, Arkansas. We're done with Tennessee so down to 3 states to go.
As we were leaving Memphis we happened to run into Dale (left) & Richard (right). They are source to sea paddlers like us. These two amazing men are trying to become the oldest to paddle the mississippi. Dale is 80 & Richard is 70. They invited us to camp with them for the night and was a lot of fun to share the stories of our adventures together.
Check out their adventure: http://www.greybeardadventurer.com/about.html We ended up not going to Graceland today, but we did see a zoo!
We made it to Memphis and have less than 750 miles to the gulf! We both have never been here before so we're excited to check out the city.
Tomorrow will be doing what Marc Cohn says, walking in Memphis! After 6 days on the river, those showers are gonna be great!
Today was a haul and was because of the help of Tennessee Greg. We can now say goodbye to Kentucky & Missouri and hello to Tennessee & Arkansas. Down to the final 4 states!
We're finally complete with the "upper" Mississippi River! This marker shows the confluence of the Ohio & Mississippi Rivers. Also can cross Illinois off the list as we've reached Kentucky!
Miss Lacey has been a champ so far. She's paddled through rain, wind, waves, and whirlpools... She's got less than 1000 miles to go!
